Arched Windows

Arched windows are among the most architecturally dramatic features in DMV homes, particularly in Georgian, Federal, and colonial-style homes throughout Georgetown, McLean, Potomac, and Chevy Chase. Replacing glass in an arched window requires an exact template of the curve — no two arches are identical, even in homes that appear identical from the street. We template each arch on-site using flexible rulers and pattern paper, then cut the glass to match the exact curvature of your frame.

Round and Oval Windows

Circular and oval windows serve both functional and decorative purposes — porthole windows in bathrooms and stairwells, round gable windows for attic ventilation, and decorative oval inserts in entry doors. The glass for these windows must be cut to precise radii and may require custom tempering for safety-rated locations. We fabricate round glass in any diameter and can match obscure or textured glass patterns for bathroom privacy applications.

Triangular and Trapezoidal Windows

Gable-end windows, clerestory windows, and windows that follow rooflines are often triangular, trapezoidal, or pentagonal. These shapes require precise angle measurements and custom cutting. For insulated glass units in these shapes, the spacer system must be custom-bent to match the non-standard geometry — work that general glass shops often struggle with but that our fabrication team handles routinely.

Glass Types for Custom Shapes

Custom-shaped glass is available in all the same types as standard rectangular glass: clear, Low-E, tempered, laminated, decorative, and insulated. The fabrication time is longer for custom shapes — typically 5 to 10 business days — and the cost is higher due to the additional labor and material waste involved in non-rectangular cutting. But the result is glass that fits your unique window perfectly and performs exactly as intended.
